boca raton charity eventsEach month, different organizations and non-profits rally their supporters and raise funds to keep their initiatives going strong. Here's just a few upcoming events in South Florida for the month of February.

Cycle for Survival

Over 9 days, Cycle For Survival will take place in cities across the country, with teams raising funds for rare cancer on nearly 5,000 bikes. While this event may be a bit out of the way for Boca Raton residents, it's a cause that merits the trip to Coral Gables.

The goal of the fundraiser is to increase funds for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, with the proceeds raised going to research of rare cancers, which include thyroid, brain, and pediatric. Now in its 9th year, the cycle has raised almost 60 million dollars and has funded hundreds of trials and research projects.

It's an indoor cycling challenge on February 8, running from 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm at the Village of Merrick Park, with cyclists hopping on and biking for as long as they can. Teams have been fundraising for weeks, and it's easy to support an existing group or to register for your own.

Bark After Dark

A house party for a good cause, Bark After Dark will bring together canine supporters to help the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida. It's the second annual party, and the February 7 event's special guest is Miami real estate agent and Million Dollar Listing star Samantha DeBianchi. There will be refreshments, live music, and plenty of dancing.

Tickets are $65 or $125 for a pair. All proceeds go the rescue organization.

Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton Tennis Tournament

Head over to the Boca Raton Resort & Club on February 8, 2015 to play tennis on some of the city's best courts. The Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton's Annual Tennis Tournament will be a day of matches, drills, and auctions, all in benefit of the programs hosted by the club.

There will be two levels, so you can enter as a competitive or social player. After the matches, drills and tennis games, along with refreshments, will follow.

Don your tennis shoes to help out with after school programs, or become a sponsor to make an impact in a big way. Tickets are $100 for a competitive slot, or $50 for spectators.
